Amie Maciszewski is the leading light of Sangeet 2000. Sangeet 2000 is a federal non-profit (501c3) organization. Sangeet 2000 is dedicated to providing a forum for high-level professional performers of traditional Indian music and dance to interact with the Austin world music community by giving recitals and offering workshops in which local music lovers and musicians can participate.
Fluent in Bengali as well as Hindi, Amie is also a talented sitar and vocal tutor. Amie has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Alberta to teach Hindustani music and write about it.
