Here's Jeremy Hall playing his Buckingham Music, Inc. "Krishna" model sitar.
Jeremy says:
"I am a 21 year old community college student, majoring in arts;
specifically computer art /graphics design. I am interested in most forms of
art be they visual, aural or really any other form, also literature, psychology,
and higher mathematics although I have a hard enough time with the basics
of math most of the time ;-)
My personal interests are not really different from my areas of study. I
tend to do things of a creative nature and spend most of my free time working
with music.
I play guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards including piano as well as other instruments that I
have some level of ability with. Among these are sitar, percussion in general,
violin, and mandolin.
I play music primarily for personal and educational purposes and have no real goal to ever
make any money with it, but may get around to releasing some recordings
eventually.
The kind of music that I do varies, but tends to combine some
elements of rock style music with various "ethnic" styles as well some
orchestral ideas.
A lot of the music I grew up hearing dissatisfies me in that I would notice some
very good ideas present, but they were never developed to my personal taste,
(not to say that i didn't like the music, but that the things that I found most pleasing
or interesting about them were only briefly touched upon) so I try to make the
music that I have always wanted to hear.
Hopefully others will enjoy it as well :o)
Apart from listening to Indian music one of my other favorite things to listen to are
film scores.
To me all music creates a sense of place (mental imagery), but
in film score the specific task is of course to accompany a scene. The
way different composers will approach the same kind of scene interests me. This kind of music
influences me the most.
My favorite composer of film score and other works, is Elliot Goldenthal. He has a very
unusual style.
Like most people, i enjoy spending time with my friends and to me they
are an infinite source of inspiration both personally and artistically.
Music and visual art expands me personally
and spiritually. It is also fascinating to find what I sometimes like to call (using the words
of Wordsworth)
"The still, sad music of humanity."
