I wanted to relate that this Calcutta is grand - I like it very much. The sound is nice, sounds wonderful in the studio. Been enjoying practicing too, I received the sitar on friday, came home and played for about 3 + hours ... and I realised how much I had missed the meditative spiritual vibrations of the sitar.

I am considering hooking up with my tabla player friend .... after getting my chops back together and perhaps doing some sitar performances around town again... SO, hey thanks for the inspiration !!! You have got me back on the sitar path !!! It feels great too.

After the past couple days of practice, I am receiving ideas and partial arrangements for my sitar album which is going to be very non-traditional sitar stuff ... more along the ambient genre. I will keep in contact and let you know when my mp3.com pages go live...

Again, I'd like to thank you for responding to my e-mail so quickly last time. That was very impressive. I asked you if you could give me an idea about how much the sitar we have in our family is worth. I took a couple of Poloroid pictures of it, that I realize are pretty bad, but maybe they'll help give you an idea. Let me know if they are completely unreadable. I've attached them as jpg files. The makers of the sitar are: Vilayet Husen & Brothers - Miraj.

We lived in Miraj when I was a child and my parents watched them make the instrument. That was about 35 years ago. The strings obviously all need to be replaced and there is a slightly broken bridge that needs to be replaced. Could you recommend a good company that we can purchase these items?
