Tuning the Sitar Pdt. Ravi Shankar Style Back
to Tutorials Ravi Shankar's method of tuning sitar is now the dominant tuning for most satarists and is different from the normal or "common" system found throughout India. In the common tuning the 2nd and 3rd strings are both tuned to C with the following 4th string tuned to G. In Ravi Shankar's tuning 2nd is C, 3rg is G and 4th is lower C - one octave below the 2nd string.
